Shizuoka City Nihondaira Zoo
– Nighttime Zoo
Highlights
The Night Zoo is held at the Nihondaira Zoo for a total of four days in September and October every year. This is a popular event at the zoo that attracts about 5,000 to 6,000 visitors per day, many of whom come from the Tokyo metropolitan area as well as from within the prefecture. It is a great opportunity to enjoy a different kind of zoo at night. The event is held for four days in early autumn when the nights are longer and the animals are more active. Children and adults alike are sure to be excited by the faint silhouettes of the animals and the eyes of the fierce animals that glow in the dark, which can only be experienced at night. The zoo is also decorated with lighting to create a fantastic atmosphere and is equipped with a concert in the observatory plaza for a panoramic view of the night scenery. We hope that you will enjoy the night view of Nihondaira Zoo in combination with that of the city.
