Kajiwara Mountain Park
Highlights
From the top of the 279-meter-high mountain, you can enjoy a 180-degree panorama of Mt. Fuji, the cityscape of Shizuoka’s Aoi-ku, and the Izu Peninsula in this phenomenal night view spot. Recognized as a Japan Night View Heritage in 2019, the summit area has a grassy plaza along the slope, benches, pavilions, and an observatory, making it the perfect environment for observing. While the lights of the Dream Sky Ferris wheel and Shimizu Port twinkle in the southeast, the silhouette of Nihondaira, with its gentle mountain ridges, combines to create a contrast of light and shade that gives you a night view of Shizuoka rich in topography. The route from the parking lot to the top of the mountain and the observatory are not lit, so bring a flashlight or visit early in the day.
